Some prefer to sleep in on Saturday…I don’t mind to from time to time, but with June Bug that just doesn’t happen. Instead she is up and at ’em by 7am and if a run is going to happen it’s gotta be in the early morning before that East Coast sun gets too high in the sky!
Our run (many walk breaks included today) in OV (Ocean View) was just what we needed.
Beachside neighborhoods are the best for early morning runs. Waving to others out and about, looking at all the pastel colored beach houses as we run by and seeing the big blue ocean – you can’t help but be in a good mood.
One of the many things I enjoy about running is the time for reflection and ability to put away the day’s distractions. This morning I thought about how much has changed since my Baylor running days. Six years ago I would have been flying through Cameron Park, working on a 13-14 mile long run. Nowadays, I am happy to log 3 miles at a 9:30/mile clip! Funny how life changes. Things come and go in different seasons of life – for now, this is where I am and you know what? I’m ok with that.
Enjoy your weekend y’all!
